Staff Accountant Job Responsibilities:
- The Staff Accountant will perform the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with Finance policies and procedures
- The Staff Accountant will manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivable and working closely with various departments to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled accurately
- The Staff Accountant must review and process Expense reports and receipts submitted by cardholders on monthly basis
- The Staff Accountant is expected to perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary
- The Staff Accountant will prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports per program and department.
- The Staff Accountant will perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
- The Staff Accountant will assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and interim grant financial reporting
Job Requirements
Staff Accountant Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of SAP
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills – pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Staff Accountant must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
- 5 years’ accounting experience
- Strong understanding of SEC Reporting requirements and GAAP
- Highly detail oriented and organized in work
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
Staff Accountant Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration
- 2-4 years’ experience required, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
- Experience with reconciliations across multiple entities
