Joomla Installation

All common Joomla and VirtueMart installation you can find below:


1. Install Gatsby

1.1 Installation

- Requirements for Gatsby

You can click here to find out more about requirements of Joomla.

Below are three requirements for working version of Joomla, php, and mysql.

You also need to make sure that your host can comply with follow requirements. We recommend using your hosting recommendations for all your hosting needs.

  1. Your web host has the minimum requirements to run Joomla.
  2. Your host are running the latest version of Joomla.
  3. Always create secure passwords for FTP and Database.

- Recommended PHP Configuration Limits

Low PHP configuration limits can cause many issues. When related issues occur, you need increase your PHP limits to a minimum as follows:


1.2 Gatsby fullpackage installation

- Install fullpackage manually via FTP Client

In order to add a new Theme to Joomla installation, follow these basic steps:

  1. Download the zip package of Gatsby theme in ThemeForest
  2. Upload fullpackage.zip. If you have C-Panel you can Unzip using Cpanel. If you don't have C-panel you can upload unzip.php to the root folder and run it. You can Unzip fullpackage.zip using this script. If your server has restrictions and you don't allow to Unzip using unzip.php you have to Unzip our fullpackage.zip on local machine and upload all files using ftp.
  3. Connect to your FTP server and navigate to Joomla installation folder.

    Remove installation. If you can't remove via Joomla you have to remove using ftp. If you need you can install language pack. Now you are ready to use site. Your admin access data is created on the first step. use it.


- Some manipulations after installation
  1. Open configuration tab and switch off Error Reporting

  2. Open Virtuemart--> Tools--> Tools & Migration and Optimize Database and Update Database

  3. Open Virtuemart--> Shop - fill all fields for vendor account

  4. Open Virtuemart--> Orders & Shoppers --> Shopper check your account and Make your account as Vendor

  5. Open the site and use Gatsby Joomla site with demo content

2. The main theme settings

The main template is Default template. You can understand about this when you see a star near this template. Other templates have another settings and they are assignmented to another pages. It means if you want to use another footer, header you can choose another template or open any template and see template settings.

Below we will check all settings

 

2.1 Basic options

Here you can find all global settings and output some additional information:

- switch on/off preloader and choose preloader style

- switch on/off back to top

- switch on/off sticky header

- upload favicon

- switch on/off boxed layout. If you use boxed version you can upload background image and adjust it

- upload logo for desktop, mobile and retina devices

- switch on/off copyright

- switch on/off social icons and choose module position

- Contact Information - switch on/off

- Coming Soon - switch on/off, upload the image, write the text and choose the date

- Error Page - upload background and logo

 

2.2 Virtuemart options

Here you can adjust some elements on category and product pages. For the default these settings switched off. If you want to use theme as shop you have to open this section and switch on necessary elements of Category List :

- you can adjust labels (Sale, New, Hot, Offer). You can adjust conditions for Hot and New labels

- Description on product - you can switch on/off description and adjust number of title's symbols.

- Stock on product , Rating on product, Wishlist on product , Compare on product, Count Holder on product, Quantity on product , Customfields on product - you can switch on/off elements on product pages. If Customfields on product is switched on you can show custom fields

- Used style listing categories - we have 2 variants of product box

- Used layout grid or list - choose style for category page

Product Page List:

- Sidebar product page - you can show/hide sidebar on product page

- Wishlist on product , Compare on product - show/hide buttons on product page

- Style information block in productpage - you can adjust output for additional information block (full description, rating, review, video, custom text)

- Social Share product page - you can switchon/off social icons

- Any Page Virtuemart - here you can switch on/off sidebar on checkout, registration and orders pages

2.3 Presets options

We have pre-defined 4 color. You can choose our color scheme or create own

2.4 Layout options

Here you can create new additional poistions for customization. How it works read here https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/helix3#layout-manager-settings We found one nuance. For example, you have to duplicate the template with small changes for some menu assignment. We have to use default template, customize it and save it with another name. Such manipulation you have to do constantly

2.5 Menu options

2.6 Typography options

3. Language installation and adjustment

3.1 Language installation

When you install fullpackage template has 2 languages: English and Russian. You can download Joomla language packs here https://community.joomla.org/translations/joomla-3-translations.html

Here you can find Virtuemart language pack https://virtuemart.net/community/translations/virtuemart

For example we want to install Italian language. Follow my steps:

-Install language pack for Joomla


-Install language pack for Virtuemart


-Now you have to adjust content language output


when you click on point 3 you will go to this page. Fill fields

Save it. If you use only one language you can edit current language


(point 1 - input your language constant and 2 - add the text) See your constants at your language packs

- Now you have to adjust multilanguage menu

1.Click Menus and Add New Menu


After you have to create new Menu Item Home and apply it to Italian language

don't forget to make this Menu Item as default. If you made it right you will see italian flag

After you have to link item using associations. Open English Menu and apply Homepages for different languages

- If you want to make multi-language blog you have to create categories and assign to your language and assign blog articles to these categories. After you you can assign these categories for needed Menu Items






- Don't forget to apply template for each language and assign created menu








- for Virtuemart you have to make such manipulation

If you made everything right you will get multilanguage site

If you need to edit language constants from English to another language, for instants we have to translate from English filelanguage\en-GB\en-GB.tpl_beez3.ini Copy it to Italian folder and rename to language\it-IT\it-IT.tpl_beez3.ini. After you can translate it. These files you need to translate theme:

4. Review mod_virtuemart_product_tabs module

This module is used for output products on Home page or another pages



1 - you can choose one of 3 views: standart, tabs or accordion

2 - If you use Tabs or Accordion you can add tabs, adjust them, sort and change the order

3 - If you write here text you will see Title

4 - If you don't want to have conflicts you have to use different classes

5 - Choose Products which you want to show: Latest, features, bestsellers, specials, random

6 - Switch on/off slider option

7 - Here you have to adjust how many products you want to output

8 - Here you have to apply value how many products will be at one row. So if you apply 8 products and and you need 2 rows you have to write 4. If you use slider option and apply 8 products you will see 4 products and arrows.


if you use value 2 you will see 8 products on 2 rows


9 - you can hide product if there is out of stock

10 - output category on this category

11 - Exclude categories which you don't want to see

12 - Switch cache on/off

5. Review mod_sp_portfolio module

This module allows to output articles like portfolio

Sort works by article tags. You have to create a portfolio category, create tags for sorting at portfolio categories. After create articles with different tags. Now you can use this module to output portfolio. it works like usual Joomla module


1 - here we choose a category where located our articles

2 - number of articles

3 - Adjust columns. If you use value 0 it's needed for massonry.

4 - limit for load more ajax button. For example you have 12 articles, and load more 6. You will see 6 articles, click on more and you will see 6 articles more


Here you can show/hide some elements. Module layout supports different layouts. Default - output articles by columns. Appico responds for massonry. Blog layout - classic view of articles:



6. Backlinks on scripts and documentation

We do not provide the support for 3rd party plugins and modules. In this case you will have to purchase a personal license on the plugin's/module's official website in order to get the help
